veni, vidi, vino.

This is nothing more than a random collection of my thoughts and ramblings, plus some things I find interesting... and now mainly a travelogue of my adventures in Florence.

I'm a film major and an art minor. I'm currently studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I love cake, baby animals, and awkward photos. Theater is my passion, film is my love, and photography is the whore I like to pimp out on a semi-regular basis.

So Paris is pretty much my favorite city in the world. Going this past weekend was hell in a matter of getting there, but once we finally made it it was wonderful. I need to go back, but for more than two days. It’s simply not enough time.

We went to the Louvre, walked along the Seine, saw the Notre Dame, and ate a lot of delicious food. Our hotel was small but wonderful. We went to an extremely overpriced bar (8 euro for one beer??), followed it with a slightly more reasonable one where I told off some French asshole… in French, and then ran into some random guys on the street who took us to a really cool little bar/club called “Hop In”. It had a room in the back that you took stairs down to, and there was a DJ and people dancing and it felt like a house party. It was awesome.

The next day we accidentally failed to meet up with our new French friends (oops…) and spent the day walking around, seeing Notre Dame, and eating more. That night everyone except me had concerts to see, so I walked around, found an open patisserie, and bought a baguette and too many pastries. I brought them back to the hotel where I had a mini-feast, and was fed even more food by various people. A group of French-speaking people gave me pizza, then the receptionist gave me some flan. Everyone was so nice.

I really liked being in France because although my French is terrible is is most definitely better than my non-existent Italian. Paris was actually the place I would have most liked to study abroad, but it wouldn’t have made sense for me to go there. But I absolutely love the city and need to go back again.

This weekend I am the only one of eight in my apartment… but as of last night I may be doing a day trip/wine tasting tour in Chianti on Saturday. We went back to Space, and no one made out with my ear but we did get to be in the VIP section for free! And talked a lot to the guys who work there. It was a lot of fun, but not the best idea when you have 9 am class the next day!
